Schakowsky Statement on Israel-Hamas Peace Agreement

EVANSTON - Today, U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (IL-09) released the following statement on the announced peace agreement between Israel and Hamas:

“After two excruciating years, I welcome the news of a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel. The human cost of this war has been staggering, and it is long past time for the conflict to end. 

“While I was relieved by the news of this agreement, there is still a lot of work to be done. This moment must mark not just the end of a catastrophic war, but the beginning of a future rooted in dignity, safety, and self-determination for all. We must do everything in our power to ensure that both Israelis and Palestinians can begin the long process of healing and rebuilding, and it is my earnest hope that all parties uphold the agreement to end the war and work towards securing a long-term peace plan.”
