Congresswoman Schakowsky's Statement on Israel Denying Entry To Her Two Colleagues

Chicago, IL— Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, a Senior Chief Deputy Whip, released the following statement regarding Israel recently denying entry to two of her colleagues, Congresswomen Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar:

"It is because of my lifelong support for Israel I am so angered by Prime Minister Netanyahu's shortsighted decision to deny two duly elected members of Congress entry to Israel. Blocking entry of critics of the government is fundamentally counter to the democratic values our countries supposedly share. By following the outrageous advice of Donald Trump, Prime Minister Netanyahu is threatening the bipartisan Congressional support that is essential for Israel's safety and security. I urge the Prime Minister not to insult the United States and not to put the future of Israel in the hands of Donald Trump."
