WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (IL-09), Co-Founder and Co-Chair of the House Democratic Task Force on Aging and Families, reintroduced the Stop Unfair Medicaid Recoveries Act. This legislation would repeal the federal mandate that requires state Medicaid programs go after families and estates for repayment of Medicaid long-term care services.

WASHINGTON – U.S. Representatives Jan Schakowsky (IL-09), Pramila Jayapal (WA-07), and Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) are leading 60 lawmakers in calling on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to enact urgent reforms to Medicare Advantage (MA) plans. Unlike Traditional Medicare, MA plans are administered by private insurers and have been found to be fraught with waste, fraud, and abuse, often sacrificing patient outcomes for higher corporate profit.

WASHINGTON - Today, U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (IL-09) and U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) reintroduced the Price Gouging Prevention Act of 2024, which would protect consumers and prohibit corporate price gouging. The bill would authorize the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and state attorneys general to enforce a federal ban against grossly excessive price increases, regardless of a seller’s position in a supply chain.
