Rep. Schakowsky Statement on Successful Hiring Event in Des Plaines, Illinois

Evanston, IL – Representatives Jan Schakowsky and Brad Schneider hosted a successful hiring event on Thursday morning at Oakton Community College in Des Plaines. This event connected more than five hundred local residents with hundreds of job offerings available at over sixty Chicagoland area employers, and featured numerous workshops to help job seekers improve their chances of finding employment. Today, Rep. Schakowsky released the following statement:

“I am happy to see such enthusiastic turnout from employers and job seekers alike.” Rep. Schakowsky said. “By connecting job seekers with companies looking for workers, we can improve the lives of our local residents, drive economic growth in the area, and make our communities an even better place to live.”

“I want to thank the staff at Oakton Community College, the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) and National Able Network – we would not have been successful without their amazing work.”

Rep. Schakowsky’s office indicated that due to the overwhelming success of this event, future hiring events are already being discussed.
