Rep. Schakowsky Votes Against Anti-Immigrant Resolution

March 17, 2016

Today, Representative Jan Schakowsky released the following statement after House Republicans voted in support of the State of Texas’ suit against the President’s lawful immigration actions:

“Once again, House Republicans are fanning the flames of anti-immigrant rhetoric with their House vote in support of the State of Texas’ suit against the President’s lawful immigration actions. The President has the same legal authorities used by every president since Dwight D. Eisenhower to enforce our immigration laws. Instead of using this valuable House floor time to pass comprehensive immigration reform to make our country safer and boost our economy, our colleagues have once again resorted to partisan stunts and stoking fear and hate. This is not how Congress should be run. Congress should be focused on the needs of the American people and harnessing our values of inclusion as we seek to expand prosperity for all Americans.”
