SCHAKOWSKY ADDRESSES HUNDREDS OF SENIORS DURING HEALTH FAIR
CHICAGO, IL - U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) today addressed hundreds of seniors and community advocates in Chicago during State Representative Harry Osterman's annual Senior Citizen's Health Fair. The fair was held in Schakowsky's Congressional District in the Broadway Armory.
Schakowsky promised to join seniors in Chicago and across the country in fighting against the Bush Administration plans to privatize Social Security and to eliminate or drastically cut critical health care programs that benefit millions of retires and elderly Americans. Schakowsky also vowed to push her legislation that would provide Medicare beneficiaries with a comprehensive, voluntary and affordable prescription drug benefit under Medicare. Schakowsky's bill would give Medicare the authority to use its bargaining power to negotiate for lower prescription drug cost and to pass on the savings to seniors and persons with disabilities.
