“I am pleased to announce that John Dattilo, a Mount Prospect resident and Junior at John Hersey High School has been named the winner in this year’s competition. Congratulations John!
“The app that John developed, DiaLog, provides innovative and efficient solutions to help people living with diabetes manage and track their disease. I was very excited to see this young man use his knowledge and skills to address a problem affects thousands of my constituents and millions around the world. I am excited to see what John goes on to do next.
“The Congressional App Challenge is a great opportunity for young people to develop their programming skills, and I was excited to see participation from students at several 9th Congressional District schools this year. I want to thank the students who took the time to submit an app and the faculty and staff who encouraged participation. I look forward to seeing even more submissions next year.”
John’s winning submission was an application that he created called “DiaLog.” The app is designed to assist individuals diagnosed with diabetes as they treat and manage the disease by helping them track blood sugar levels and calculate insulin dosages to match meals at restaurants or at home.
