SCHAKOWSKY TO JOIN OFFICIAL DELEGATION TO AFRICA

WASHINGTON, DC -- U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky will join House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi and other Members of Congress on an official Congressional delegation trip to Africa, leaving tonight and returning on Feb. 24. The delegation will travel to Sudan, Cape Verde, Ghana, Liberia, and South Africa. The delegation will assess the situation on the ground in Darfur, and discuss security, economic, health, and hunger issues with regional leaders across the continent.

Representative Schakowsky is a member of the House Sudan Caucus, and has co-sponsored a number of bills which seek to stop the genocide and violence in Sudan.
