Schakowsky named Vice Chair of Democracy Reform Task Force
This week, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky was named a Vice Chair of the Democracy Reform Task Force by Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi. The Task Force, chaired by Rep. John Sarbanes (D-MD), was formed to advance legislative priorities that ensure that our government is controlled by the people, not wealthy and well-connected interests. It will also focus on confronting the Trump Administration’s many conflicts of interest and ethical lapses.
“Too often, our government works for special interests and the ultra-rich at the expense of working families,” said Vice Chair Jan Schakowsky. “That’s exactly what the Democracy Reform Task Force is working to fix by rooting out corruption and reducing the influence of money in politics.”
“My constituents have demanded that we keep our eyes on President Trump’s flagrant conflicts of interest. We can’t let him use the White House to grow his business interests on the backs of taxpayers. I look forward to working with Rep. Sarbanes, Leader Pelosi, and my fellow Vice Chairs on the Task Force to promote accountability in our government and to guarantee that our democracy works for all Americans.”
