Schakowsky Reacts to Recent Actions of CPSC Commissioners
WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, a Senior Chief Deputy Whip and Chair of the Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee of the Energy and Commerce Committee, released the following statement in response to the recent actions of some Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) commissioners:
"The recent actions by some Republican-appointed Commissioners at the CPSC to do an end-run around the Acting Chair is extremely troubling. Their antics undermine the public's trust in this critical agency and put consumers at risk. At a time when the CPSC is responsible for keeping Americans safe in their homes, and with the monumental Amazon lawsuit, now is not the time for politics. I urge the Senate to put an end to these childish games by confirming President Biden's CPSC nominees without delay."
