SCHAKOWSKY RENEWS PLEDGE
TO AGGRESSIVELY ADVOCATE
ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENTS AS
O'HARE MODERNIZATION PLAN
ADVANCES IN THE HOUSE
WASHINGTON, D.C. -As the O'Hare airport modernization plan today moved a step closer to enactment, U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) renewed her pledge to "aggressively advocate" for the interests of the constituents of the 9th Congressional District.
The House approved H.R. 3479, the National Aviation Capacity Expansion Act, legislation to codify the agreement reached by the state of Illinois and the City of Chicago to modernize and rehabilitate O'Hare Airport. Schakowsky supports the legislation.
"It is important to recognize that the O'Hare Airport modernization plan is a critical component in Illinois' and the nation's long term economic vitality and growth, and a vital step forward in meeting the public's ever growing travel needs. Just as important are the real life concerns, including noise and environmental pollution, gridlock and traffic, displacement, and job losses, of those living and working in neighborhoods, businesses, and schools near O'Hare."
Schakowsky added, "As the plan for modernizing and rehabilitating for O'Hare moves forward, I will work closely with local residents, businesses and elected officials to aggressively advocate for their interests at all levels of government."
