SCHAKOWSKY SENDS LETTER TO PRESIDENT OPPOSING POSSIBLE NOMINATION OF DR. CHARNLEY TO THE CPSC

Washington, D.C.–U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), Vice Chair of the Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade and Consumer Protection, joined Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Henry Waxman (D-CA), Agriculture Appropriations Chairwoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT), and Vice Chair of Energy and Commerce Diana DeGette (D-CO) in sending President Bush a letter today urging him to abandon the possible nomination of Dr. Gail Charnley to Chairperson of the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The signers of the letter below believe that Dr. Charnley is unfit for this position because she has a long history of working for industries that pose a threat to public health and safety.
