Schakowsky Statement on the 16th Anniversary of September 11th

September 11, 2017

WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Jan Schakowsky released the following statement on the 16th Anniversary of September 11th:

“On September 11th, 2001, thousands of innocent Americans lost their lives at the hands of murderous terrorists. A nation’s thoughts and prayers have been with them and their loved ones ever since. This includes the brave passengers who brought down United Airlines Flight 93, saving thousands of lives at the plane’s intended target – the U.S. Capitol. The brave first responders who rushed into chaos and danger to save lives must also be in our hearts and minds today. We must honor these brave men and women with action, by ensuring that they receive all the resources they need to deal with the health challenges they face as a result of the attacks.

“Finally, today gives us an opportunity to remember and thank our nation’s military. Our men and women in uniform put themselves in harm’s way every day to ensure that our country is safe. We thank them, today and every day, for their valor and devotion.”
