Schakowsky Statement on 9/11 Anniversary

WASHINGTON, DC (September 11, 2009) — Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-IL, released the following statement remembering the lives lost on September 11, 2001 and the sacrifice of the first responders, service men and women, and the firefighters and police officers who answered the call of those in need. "On September 11, 2001, Americans came together in living rooms, offices, schools, churches, mosques and synagogues to support one another during a time of fear, tragedy, and tremendous loss. Every year, we remember those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks of September 11th. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the men and women of the police and fire departments, who stand watch over us and those in the armed forces who serve honorably and bravely. Every community across the United States was touched by those horrific events; the Illinoisans who were killed and those who answered their nation's call to volunteer and serve will always be remembered....
