Schakowsky Statement on Chicago Cubs winning the 2016 World Series

CHICAGO – November 3, 2016: Late last night in Cleveland, Ohio, the Chicago Cubs in a heart-stopping thriller beat the Cleveland Indians 8-7 and won the franchise’s first World Series in 108 years. Congresswoman Schakowsky released the following statement:

“Generations of Chicagoans have grown up hoping that each year would be the one where the Cubs ended their championship drought. Today, we can joyously say that 2016 is the year,” Congresswoman Schakowsky said.

“Congratulations to the Chicago Cubs, our diehard fans, and all of those who worked so hard to make today a reality. Your commitment and perseverance have paid off, and I hope we have many additional championships to celebrate in the years to come!”
