Schakowsky Statement on Election of Top House Democratic Leadership for the 118th Congress

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, a Senior Chief Deputy Whip and Chair of the Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee of the Energy and Commerce Committee, issued this statement after House Democrats held Caucus Leadership elections for the top three positions for the 118th Congress:

“I would like to congratulate Minority Leader-designate Hakeem Jeffries, Whip-designate Katherine Clark, and Chairman-designate Pete Aguilar. I have the utmost confidence in our new leaders, who truly epitomize the great diversity of our nation. I know they will be able to guide our caucus when we fight for the issues that matter most to working families, including, access to health and reproductive care, a clean and healthy environment, protecting our democracy, and an economy that puts people over profits.
