Schakowsky Statement on Flooding in 9th District

SCHAKOWSKY STATEMENT ON FLOODING IN 9th DISTRICT

Chicago, IL–U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) released the following statement today after areas in the 9th Congressional District experienced severe flooding.

"I want to reassure the residents of the 9th Congressional District that local authorities and emergency responders are doing everything possible to make sure that residents are safe and to minimize the property damaged caused by the flooding. I've reached out to the local mayors to offer my assistance and to express my strong support for their efforts. I will join Des Plaines Mayor Tony Arredia and others tomorrow morning to tour the affected areas. I will also work with Governor Blagojevich to make sure that those communities have access to every resource available. In the meantime, I encourage residents to avoid flooded areas, including basements, and to not drive through standing water. If residents are concerned for their safety, please call 911 immediately....
