Schakowsky Statement on new CBO Report on Obamacare

January 17, 2017

"There is more and more evidence that the Republican push to repeal Obamacare would be a complete disaster. Today, the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office estimated that repeal would immediately take health care away from 18 million Americans and increase the number of uninsured by 32 million within 10 years. At the same time, individual premiums would jump immediately by 20-25 percent, and 50 percent by 2026.

We've been waiting six years for Republicans to show us a plan that will actually improve health care and not take away the many protections gained under Obamacare. Consumers and voters are catching on to the fact that repeal alone is a really bad plan. We will not let Republicans succeed in making Americans pay more and get less."
