Schakowsky Statement on the Passing of Civil Rights Leader, Rev. Willie Barrow
CHICAGO– Civil Rights Leader, Rev. Willie Barrow passed away this morning. Rep. Jan Schakowsky issued the following statement:
“Rev. Willie Barrow was my friend for the last four decades. I was honored to have marched and fought by her side for consumer protection, women's rights, workers' rights and civil rights. No one could fire up a crowd and get people moving like Rev. Barrow. I last saw her in January at the Rainbow Push Coalition Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast. From the beginning of her life to the end, Rev. Barrow was strong, inspiring, and present –always organizing for justice and equality. Every life that she touched, including mine, is better because of the example she set. I will miss her very much. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones. “
