Schakowsky statement on President Trump's Iran blunder

Rep. Jan Schakowsky released the following statement after President Trump announced his decision to decertify the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), also known as the Iran Deal:

“President Trump’s announcement, based on nothing but ego and a brutish determination to destroy anything linked to President Obama’s legacy, has put the world in danger. Blatantly ignoring the loud and clear advice of members of Congress who voted both for and against the original deal, his own Secretary of Defense, his own Secretary of State, his own Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and essentially the entire international community, President Trump has decided to ‘go with his gut’ and decertify the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. President Trump’s modus operandi is chaos and recklessness. He is not fit to lead, and he continues to treat matters of global security as if they were one more episode of ‘The Apprentice.’

“Congress has a chance to rectify the President’s blunder. Shame on anyone who chooses to play Yes Man to President Trump over avoiding a nuclear armed Iran and the potential for destruction it could bring.”
