Schakowsky Statement on Release of Mueller Report

Evanston, IL – Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, a Senior Chief Deputy Whip, released the following statement today after Attorney General Barr’s press conference and the release of the Mueller report:

“The Attorney General’s appearance this morning was unprecedented and inappropriate. The nation’s leading prosecutor is serving as a spin master for President Trump. The American people would be wise to disregard his unprofessional and unnecessary characterizations of the President in regards to this report.

“It is clear that we cannot take this Attorney General at his word, which is a dangerous situation for our nation. We need to study the full report now. We need to hear from Robert Mueller himself now, and I join with my colleagues who have called for him to come before Congress. And most importantly, my Republican colleagues need to take off their political blinders and serve the public, not the President.”
