“Every day the need to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the ties between the Trump Administration and the Russian government’s assault on our democracy becomes more urgent. From yesterday’s revelation that the President mishandled highly classified intelligence from our ally Israel to today’s reports of his shameless abuse of power, the need for further investigation is now undeniable. My Republican colleagues can no longer dismiss the irresponsible and unethical behavior of President Trump. We need a full independent investigation, and history will not look kindly on those who sat idle while our democratic institutions were threatened.”
