Schakowsky Statement on Senate Passage of the Water Resources Development Act

September 15, 2016

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky released the following statement after the Senate passed the Water Resources Development Act. This legislation authorizes almost $200 million for the next phase of the Des Plaines River Project:

“I am gratified that the Senate has passed the Water Resources Development Act with funding for the Des Plaines River Project. This project will not only create jobs but also reduce flood risk and support ecosystem restoration in our region. Now it is time for the House to act. That is why I joined with 142 of my House colleagues – Democrats and Republicans – calling on Speaker Ryan to bring the Water Resources Development Act to the floor without delay. ”
