Schakowsky Statement on Shooting Death of Jovan Wilson

CHICAGO, IL- Today, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky released the following statement regarding the shooting death of 15 year old Jovan Wilson, grandson of Congressman Danny Davis:

“I am deeply saddened and distressed to hear that yet another young life has been cut far too short by gun violence this weekend. I extend my heartfelt condolences to Jovan’s entire family, including my dear friend Congressman Davis. Tragically, Jovan’s story is neither unique nor uncommon. Gun violence is rampant in our cities and around the country. As the statistics and stories of deaths by firearm continue to pile up, this Congress’ inaction becomes more and more shameful. I call on my colleagues to correct this historic mistake, and pass comprehensive gun safety legislation immediately.”
