Schakowsky Statement on the Trump FY19 Budget

Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, a Chief Deputy Whip and member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement on President Trump’s FY19 budget:

“After running up a $1.5 trillion bill to give massive tax cuts to millionaires, billionaires, and large corporations, President Trump is now asking working-class and middle-class families to pick up the tab. The President’s Budget cuts away at Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. It once again goes after Americans’ access to quality, affordable health care and slashes critical funding for nutrition and heating assistance. At the same time, this budget requests $18 billion for a wasteful, insulting border wall. President Trump’s priorities are twisted and un-American, and today’s Budget proves it yet again.”
