Schakowsky Statement on the USITC Report on the Trans-Pacific Partnership

May 19, 2016

Washington D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) released the following statement after the United States International Trade Commission (USITC) released its report on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP):

“The International Trade Commission’s report on the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement confirms our warnings. This trade deal would hurt American workers, harm our manufacturing sector, and increase our trade deficit. Multi-national corporations may be better off, but working families will lose if TPP is approved. We should be working to improve the financial security of working families, not pass trade deals that undermine wages and shift jobs overseas. That is why I will continue to fight to stop the TPP and to fight for fair trade agreements that improve the lives of workers here and around the world.”
