WASHINGTON D.C. (November 16, 2012) — Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) has introduced H.Res. 810, a resolution urging the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to continue its cooperation with airports across the United States to implement noise mitigation plans.
"The 9th Congressional District is fortunate to have a world class airport at our doorstep, but residents deserve protection against significant noise pollution,... said Rep. Schakowsky, who has advocated for the soundproofing of homes, schools, and businesses dealing with high levels of airport noise. "I am committed to protecting the communities surrounding O'Hare Airport from adverse impacts of air traffic and I look forward to continued cooperation between the FAA and airports nationwide to accomplish that goal....
Significant noise pollution can have adverse impacts on education, commerce, quality of life, sleep patterns, and home value. The resolution calls for continued FAA collaboration with U.S. airports to reduce noise pollution.
