Schakowsky Visits High School Alma Mater

CHICAGO - Today, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, Senior Chief Deputy Whip and Chair of the Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee, visited Sullivan High School in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago. The Congresswoman was joined by University of Illinois System President Tim Killeen, the CEO of the Chicago Public Schools Pedro Martinez, and 49th Ward Alderwoman Maria Hadden. Schakowsky is a graduate of the high school, and it is located in 9th Congressional District which she represents.

The visit included a tour of the building, with a stop in the gymnasium named for the Congresswoman. There was an opportunity to sit down and talk with several students of the school, to hear about their experiences and what they are looking for as they look at possible colleges. Students were able to hear from officials of the University of Illinois system about support programs for new students, economic assistance programs, and other important information.
