Statement on Affordable Healthcare

Washington, DC (January 2, 2014) – Rep. Jan Schakowsky released the following statement on affordable health coverage through the Affordable Care Act:

“As of January 1st, millions of Americans finally have access to quality and affordable health coverage. New consumer protections are now in place to provide health and financial security. No longer does having a pre-existing condition mean being denied coverage or charged higher premiums. Women will no longer be charged more than men. Families no longer have to worry about having their health benefits cut off after they reach annual or lifetime limits, and they will have their out-of-pocket costs capped every year. Many individuals, families and small businesses will get help paying their premiums.

“This is the Affordable Care Act working and providing quality and affordable health coverage.”
