Statement on National Small Business Week
Washington, DC (June 17, 2013) — Rep. Jan Schakowsky released the following statement on National Small Business Week:
"Today marks the beginning of National Small Business Week, in which we celebrate American small businesses and recognize the important role they play in our economy and creating jobs. These small businesses are innovators and entrepreneurs that are the backbone of our economy and support our communities. As a member of the Small Business Caucus, I will continue to work to provide small businesses the tools they need to expand and hire hard-working Americans.
"We must immediately repeal the sequester, which has caused small businesses to lose access to more than $90 million in loans and cost the nation by preventing entrepreneurs from creating and expanding businesses. As we honor small businesses this week, we are reminded of the devastating impacts the sequester will have on these businesses. I will continue to fight for small businesses and ensure they are given the resources needed to sustain success and continue to create jobs.
