Statement on NSA Advisory Panel Recommendations

December 19, 2013

Washington, DC (December 19, 2013) – Rep. Jan Schakowsky released the following statement on the NSA advisory panel recommendations:

“I’m pleased that President Obama requested a review of the National Security Agency’s practices and that we now have the recommendations from the advisory panel. This gives us the opportunity to have a robust debate and to make the positive changes needed to ensure that we protect individual privacy and national security concerns in a more balanced way.

“Last week I signed on as a cosponsor of H.R. 3361, the USA Freedom Act, a bipartisan piece of legislation, which contains provisions similar to those offered by President Obama’s advisory panel.”
