Statement on the Passing on Nelson Mandela

Washington, DC (December 6, 2013) – Rep. Jan Schakowsky released the following statement on the passing of Nelson Mandela:

“Today the world lost a fierce and courageous leader with the passing of Nelson Mandela. From fighting for justice even while a prisoner for 27 years to becoming South Africa’s President, Nelson Mandela taught us all the lesson of humility, sacrifice and forgiveness. His lessons and legacy will live on in South Africa and throughout the world.”
