Jan's Plans & Pans - July 5, 2022

This holiday weekend, gunmen stole the 4th of July for countless people in the Chicago area. We are mourning the seven dead, and the numerous wounded in Highland Park, Illinois during their 4th of July Parade, as well as the many others dead from gun violence this weekend in Chicago.

We must resolve to take action to end the obscene proliferation of military style weapons, as well as the easy access to all deadly firearms. The avalanche of guns is defiling the very freedom and security that the 4th of July is meant to celebrate. We must renew our battle to assure that everyone is free to realize life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

In this week's video update, I reflect on this tragic weekend and discuss the steps we can take to move forward as a nation. I also provide updates on the United States Supreme Court and abortion rights here in Illinois. In addition, I share some new information from the January 6th Committee.
