Animal Welfare & Protection

As a member of the Congressional Animal Protection Caucus, I strongly believe in protecting and promoting animal welfare. That is why I have supported numerous legislative efforts to protect animals from abusive environments. The humane treatment of animals also extends to wildlife. Deforestation, habitat destruction, and industrial development threaten vulnerable ecosystems. I strongly oppose the Trump administration’s efforts to rollback vital provisions of the Endangered Species Act—which helped save our country’s national symbols like the bald eagle from extinction. All of these threats to animals are exasperated by the existential crisis of climate change. Devastating storms, floods, and wildfires are occurring more frequently and with horrifying consequences for wildlife. It is imperative that we do everything we can to protect all animals both domestic and wild.
