Last week, Democratic Members of Congress staged an historic, 26-hour sit-in on the House floor, demanding a vote on commonsense legislation to stop the epidemic of gun violence. The National Day of Action on Gun Violence Prevention is being held in Chicago and in communities across the United States to continue that effort.

Every day in America, 297 people are shot and 89 people are killed by guns. In Chicago, someone is shot every 2.8 hours. Mass shootings from Sandy Hook to Colorado Springs, from San Bernardino to Orlando and the daily violence all contribute to the need for action – to stop the violence, to keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people, and to disarm hate.

On Wednesday, June 29, people in Chicago and across country will gather to continue the demand for action.
