Schakowsky Applauds Ann Carlson's Nomination to Head NHTSA

February 15, 2023

WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, a Chief Deputy Whip and Ranking Member on the Innovation, Data, and Commerce Subcommittee of the Energy and Commerce Committee, released the following statement on President Biden's decision to nominate Ann Carlson to become administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA):

“I applaud President Biden's nomination of Acting Administrator Ann Carlson to lead the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. This vital agency has the crucial responsibility of implementing the many lifesaving auto safety provisions in the historic Infrastructure Law. This job is particularly urgent because our nation is experiencing an auto safety crisis. In 2021 alone, we lost 43,000 lives on U.S. roads. I look forward to working with Acting Administrator Carlson to ensure the safety of all Americans and vehicles on our nation’s roads.”
