SCHAKOWSKY: BUSH ADMINISTRATION POLITICIZES SCIENCE
WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) warned that under the Bush Administration, a troubling trend is emerging where scientific agencies are substituting scientific research and independent analysis with the pre-conceived biases and prejudices of the Administration.
A recent report released by U.S. Representative Henry Waxman (D-CA), ranking Democrat on the Government Reform Committee, describes this trend, and three ways that President Bush and his Administration are creating a new version of "science" that suits their purposes: (1) stacking scientific advisory committees with corporate and ideological cronies; (2) distorting and suppressing scientific information, and (3) interfering with scientific research.
