Schakowsky Headlines Forum on Social Security Expansion

May 4, 2015

CHICAGO – Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (IL-09) will joinSocial Security Works co-founders Nancy Altman and Eric Kingson for a discussion of the growing movement to expand Social Security.

America is on the brink of a retirement crisis that will affect the vast majority of today’s workers. Employer support and guaranteed retirement benefits can no longer be counted on, and Americans are forced, more and more, to depend on their own savings.

Panelists will discuss options for reforming Social Security’s funding structure so that millionaires and billionaires pay their fair share into the system, and why now is the time to expand Social Security. Congresswoman Schakowsky serves as co-chair of the Congressional Task Force on Seniors and has been a tireless advocate for protecting and expanding Social Security. Kingson and Altman are co-authors of the bestselling book, Social Security Works! Why Social Security Isn’t Going Broke and How Expanding It Will Help Us All.
