PERMANENTLY EXTENDING LAST YEAR'S TAX CUT WOULD DRAIN $4 TRILLION FROM SOCIAL SECURITY TRUST FUND
WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) today warned that $4 trillion from the Social Security Trust Fund would go to pay for more tax giveaways to the rich just at the time when the baby boom generation begins to retire.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) today joined her Democratic colleagues in demanding that Congress pass stalled legislation to end the pay disparity between working men and women. April 16, 2002 is Equal Pay Day.
"We are a nation that has put a person on the moon and invented personal computers, yet we cannot make the simple guarantee that women will earn equal pay as men for equal work," Schakowsky said.

SO-CALLED PENSION SECURITY ACT
WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) was not surprised that the Republicans in the House passed legislation that would do nothing to protect workers from future Enron-like disasters. The legislation actually weakens current law.
"Enron employees were robbed of their lifesavings, yet this so-called Pension Security Act would do nothing to stop future abuse of workers by other corporate criminals," Schakowsky said.
