"We have been witnessing a steady decrease in available subsidized housing for seniors and persons with disabilities, and today's action is a very important step in our efforts to avert a looming housing crisis," Schakowsky said.

"In just a short period of time, I attended three funerals in my home town of Evanston. I cried with grieving parents burying their children because of senseless gun violence. I do not want to attend any more funerals, console any more parents, or bury any more children," Schakowsky said.
