SCHAKOWSKY DEMANDS ACTION ON DARFUR crisis
WASHINGTON, DC -- U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), a Chief Deputy Democratic Whip, today expressed strong support for three bills to address the grave humanitarian crisis in Darfur.

SCHAKOWSKY leads bipartisan letter to the sudanese president condemning his denial of the darfur genocide and his anti-Semitic comments at the un general assembly
WASHINGTON, DC -- Today U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), a Chief Deputy Democratic Whip, was joined by a bipartisan group of 88 of her colleagues on a letter to Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir calling on him to apologize for and retract his dangerous and fictitious accusations directed towards the American Jewish community.

NEW BILL COULD DISENFRANCHISE MILLIONS OF AMERICAN VOTERS
WASHINGTON, DC -- Mr. Speaker, I rise today in strong opposition to H.R. 4844, the so-called Federal Election Integrity Act of 2006. Beginning in 2008, this bill imposes a requirement that eligible voters must present a government-issued photo identification and beginning in 2010, eligible voters must present a government-issued photo identification that would prove they are a citizen.
