WASHINGTON, DC – This week, Representatives Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), a Senior Chief Deputy Whip and Chair of the Energy and Commerce Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee, and Bruce Westerman (R-AR) introduced H.R. 3379, the Price Relief, Innovation, and Competition for Essential Drugs (PRICED) Act to make prescription drugs more affordable and accessible for Americans across the nation. The PRICED Act addresses one of Big Pharma’s most effective price gouging tools by reducing the exclusivity period for biologics from twelve years to five years.

ICE Enforcement Actions Anticipated

According to the President, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE) plans to conduct immigration enforcement operations around the country. The operation is expected to target families and young adults who entered the United States as unaccompanied children.

I am proud to represent the 9th Congressional District of Illinois, a district that is home to an extremely diverse group of people, and a region with a long and rich history of immigrant communities. I fully support and welcome all of my constituents, and I want to do everything in my power to prevent our community residents from deportation and family separation.

Lynch (D-MA) reintroduced legislation to create an Office of Public Participation and Consumer Advocacy at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). As one of the lead agencies responsible for developing energy infrastructure and ensuring reliability of the electric grid, FERC has sweeping authority over the wholesale power markets and ultimate jurisdiction in the federal siting and permitting process for natural gas pipelines.

"As a first generation American and daughter of immigrants, I am so proud to have cosponsored, voted for, and help pass the American Dream and Promise Act, H.R. 6. This legislation ensures that Dreamers, Temporary Protective Status (TPS) holders, and Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) recipients are protected from detention and deportation and have a pathway to U.S. citizenship.
