Women's Issues
Today, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky released the following statement after Education Secretary Betsy DeVos announced plans to undo the Obama-era Title IX guidance on sexual assault on college campuses:
“Today, the Republican Senate will send a clear message to American women and survivors of sexual violence everywhere: we don’t give a damn about you.
Last weekend, I was proud to stand with millions of women who marched around the country and around the world to say loud and clear that enough is enough – it’s time for women to get the respect and rights they deserve.

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (IL-09), a Chief Deputy Whip and Ranking Member of the Innovation, Data, and Commerce Subcommittee, released the following statement on the Federal Trade Commissions decision to bar a health app from sharing personal health data for advertising:
WASHINGTON - Today, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, a Senior Chief Deputy Whip and a senior member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement after the House of Representatives passed S. “For over 100 years, International Women's Day has been a time to stand up for women's rights, to acknowledge past accomplishments, and to confront the challenges ahead for American women and our sisters around the globe.
Today is International Women’s Day, and I join with my sisters around the globe in celebrating the accomplishments of women and in committing to tear down the barriers that prevent every girl and woman from enjoying equality of opportunity.
