WASHINGTON, DC – Reps. Jan Schakowsky, Zoe Lofgren, Jerry Nadler, and Yvette Clarke sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch and California Attorney General Kamala Harris on Tuesday requesting an investigation into the Center for Medical Progress and the selectively-edited video of a Planned Parenthood physician that it recently released.

CHICAGO – On Monday, two Chicago-area Members of Congress, Jan Schakowsky and Luis Gutiérrez, will meet with reporters to discuss the prospects for the Iran Nuclear Arms Agreement as it heads to the Congress for approval, and express their optimism. They will be joined by experts in international affairs and Middle East policy to discuss the deal and its implications for the US and Middle East policy.

WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Jan Schakowsky released the following statement in response to the Obama Administration’s announcement of a historic deal between the P5+1 (United States, United Kingdom, China, France, Russia and Germany) and Iran:

“I want to thank President Obama for his persistent leadership to reach this historic deal. I am grateful to Secretary of State Kerry, Secretary of Energy Moniz, and all of our diplomats and other personnel who have worked to make this agreement a reality. I also want to acknowledge the hard work of our allies in the P5+1 who have been our partners in this effort.

Lawmakers Call for Stronger Protections for Consumers Following Breaches

Energy and Commerce Committee Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ), Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee Ranking Member Diana DeGette (D-CO), and Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade Ranking Member Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) released the following statement regarding the resignation of Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Director Katherine Archuleta. Yesterday, updated reports showed that 21.5 million individuals had sensitive information stolen in two separate breaches of OPM’s computer system:

WASHINGTON, DC – South Carolina has acted to remove the Confederate Battle Flag from their capitol grounds. Yet, Republicans in the U.S. House, just last night, unbelievably, inexplicably acted to uphold the same flag through the Calvert amendment. They surreptitiously rushed to have the National Park Service continue to sell this symbol of hate and to keep the Confederate Battle Flag flying on federal lands. Even worse, House Republicans tried to cloak this shady move with language about the American Flag and the MIA/POW flag. This is astonishing and outrageous. Seemingly, under pressure from our united Democratic Caucus – the Republicans have withdrawn their amendment.
