CHICAGO - Rep. Schakowsky released the following statement on the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement reached in Atlanta this morning.

I am extremely disappointed by the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement reached in secret sessions this weekend. While I look forward to studying the specific language, I remain convinced that outline of the deal falls far short of the fair trade principles needed to improve the lives of workers, consumers and patients.

WASHINGTON D.C. - Last night, House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Jason Chaffetz admitted on CNN’s Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer that there is no evidence that Planned Parenthood has broken any laws. Earlier in the week, Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy told Fox News that a primary motivation behind formation of the Select Committee on Benghazi was to damage Hillary Clinton’s campaign.

WASHINGTON D.C. - The Hyde amendment, included in annual federal appropriations bills, restricts access to abortions except in instances of rape, incest or where the life of the woman is threatened. The first time Congress included the language in annual spending bills was 39 years ago today.

“Today, on the 14th anniversary of September 11, 2001, we honor the thousands who lost their lives in this devastating terrorist attack on our country. We will never forget that horrifying day; even now we still grieve for the innocent lives that were taken away or changed forever.
