WASHINGTON, DC (May 10, 2011) —Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), Rep. Ed Markey (D-MA), Rep. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI)  and 7 other members of Congress have called on the Food and Drug Administration to take immediate action to protect workers and consumers from serious health effects caused by use of formaldehyde-containing hair straighteners.  Formaldehyde is a known carcinogen.

Chicago, IL (Friday, April 22, 2011) - U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky released the following statement commemorating Earth Day:

(April 15, 2011) - Today, the House of Representatives voted to pass the Republican budget for Fiscal Year 2012 by a vote of 235-193.  Representative Schakowsky against the budget proposal, which would gut essential government programs like Medicare while giving a huge tax break to the wealthiest Americans.  Rep.
