Jan's Plans & Pans - February 14, 2023

In just his first two years in office, President Biden has created over 12 million jobs, lowered prescription drug costs for seniors, invested in our climate, and so much more. At 3.4%, the unemployment rate is the lowest it has been in over 50 years. We are bringing strong, good-paying union jobs back to America. Last week’s State of the Union proved that our best days are yet to come.

Make no mistake, my Republican colleagues want to slash Social Security, Medicare, and other vital programs. We are not going to let that happen. I am so proud to be reappointed to the House Budget Committee. Under the leadership of Ranking Democrat Brendan Boyle of Pennsylvania, we will put working families first and fight back against Republican extremism. I am excited about getting back to work!

In the Energy and Commerce Committee, I participated in a hearing focused on the federal response to Covid-19. My Republican colleagues are convinced that Democrats used faulty science to push vaccines, but in fact, we know that vaccines and boosters save lives. Only 40% of seniors over 65 have received a booster for the latest variant. Vaccines and boosters are free and readily available. I strongly recommend you get your shots if you have not done so already.
