Today, Patrizia Cavazzoni, M.D., Director, Center for Drug Evaluation and Research at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, testified before the Health Subcommittee of the Energy and Commerce Committee. I asked her to share if there has been anyone able to access treatments in trials to treat ALS and other neurodegenerative diseases.

Today I chaired on hearing on the Federal Trade Commission. We were joined by all 5 Commissioners as we discussed legislative proposals to modernize and improve the FTC and strengthen its ability to protect consumers from fraud and make them whole after being victimized.

I was happy to join Congressman Cardenas in introducing the Consumer Protection and Recovery Act after the Supreme Court took away the Federal Trade Commission's ability to recover funds for defrauded consumers. This week, we passed this bill to restore that ability and help make sure consumers are protected and can be made whole if they become victims.

In this week's update, I discuss the January 6th commission, the latest on the infrastructure deal, protecting consumers from fraud, and updates on COVID-19 and vaccines.

The American Rescue Plan expands the #ChildTaxCredit for working families. This new relief can cut child poverty in half. House Democrats are working with @POTUS to extend this tax relief permanently with the American Families Plan.
