A busy week in Washington. We passed the INVEST In America Act, which included some auto safety provisions that came thru my subcommittee. During debate on the House floor of the INVEST In America Act, I discussed the auto safety provisions in the bill, which I ushered through my subcommittee. The bill also includes funding to help remove dangerous lead service lines in our water system. Illinois has nearly 680,000 lead service lines.

I joined advocates from Illinois to talk about the Green New Deal and steps we are taking to act on climate change. While the climate corps piece was not included in the bipartisan infrastructure deal President Biden and a group of Senators came up with, House Democrats will include it in our reconciliation package.
