Representative Jan Schakowsky released the following statement calling for the resignation of Attorney General Jeff Sessions after it came to light that he had lied to the Senate Judiciary Committee while under oath:

Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky will host Suzanne Sahloul, founder and Executive Director of the Syrian Community Network, as her guest for President Trump’s address to a Joint Session of Congress on Tuesday, February 28^th. Through her organization, Suzanne has supported countless Syrian refugees resettling in the United States.

“It’s no secret that President Trump and his Administration hate the fact-based media. They have bizarrely labeled the press as ‘the opposition party’ and openly criticized reporters for fairly reporting on the Administration’s many blunders, missteps, and abuses of power in its first few weeks.

Eleven House Democrats sent a letter to Acting Secretary of the Army, Robert Speer, raising serious concerns about awarding an exclusive license for the production of the Zika vaccine to Sanofi, a prescription drug manufacturer.

Today, members of Congress led by Reps. Jan Schakowsky, Sander Levin, Bill Pascrell, and Bobby Scott called on the Government of Bangladesh to release jailed labor activists and restore workers’ rights. The letter, also signed by Reps. James P. McGovern, Mark Pocan, William Keating, Jackie Speier, Joseph Crowley and Steve Cohen, was sent to Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and raises deep concerns about the criminalization of legal labor activity in the country.
